Great audience and sales figures at Motor Show

The event confirms its role as booster of the sector

Successful audience and sales figures marked the International Motor Show, which has closed its most emblematic edition, confirming its role as the best current instrument for boosting the sector.

The edition marking the 90th anniversary of the Motor Show, which occupied the entire Montjuïc exhibition centre, received over 1,000,000 visitors attracted by the latest products, activities and attractive discounts and promotions offered by the brands, as well as the aids announced by the Government. This translated into an important level of vehicle sales made during the show and agreements which will come into effect in the next few days.

Visitors to the event were able to admire models from 55 brands (as opposed to 44 at the last show), which featured five world premières, eight European launches and 52 national debuts. The concurrence with the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, on the Circuit de Catalunya, again turned Barcelona into the world motor capital.

The list of long-awaited new products included the prototype of the future Audi Q3, to be manufactured in the Seat plant in Martorell (Barcelona), world premières from Seat, Opel and Fiat and the European debuts from Dacia, Nissan, Land Rover, Mercedes and Tata Motors.

Protection of the environment and the launch of more economic models, two of the challenges of the automobile industry, were featured at the show through various hybrid models, electric vehicles and low cost cars. Besides, the Barcelona Town Council's announced the LIVE project through which the city and its metropolitan area will be a world benchmark in the implementation of the electric car.
