The show attracts 14,600 visitors, 51% more than the first edition
The Brandery confirms its important growth and will be back in June with more fashion
With more space and more companies and more visitors than at its first edition, The Brandery, Fira de Barcelona's urban and contemporary fashion fair, closed its winter show this afternoon in the Montjuïc exhibition centre, confirming the sector's positive reception and becoming an essential event in the calendar. The Brandery will be back in June with its summer show.
A few hours before it closed, and surpassing initial forecasts, The Brandery, which had twice as much space as in July 2009 and a 47% increase in exhibiting companies, had been visited by 14,689 professionals, 51% more than at the first edition. The show, organised with the support of the Barcelona city council, featured over 210 brands, including the 080 Barcelona Fashion designers, with the new collections for next autumn-winter. Around half the exhibitors came from abroad, especially from France, Italy, Portugal and the United Kingdom.
Fira de Barcelona's Director of Expansion, in charge of The Brandery, Pere Camprubí, considered the results of this second show to be very positive and said "thanks to the confidence and support of the participating firms, we will be able to consolidate The Brandery as a benchmark show in southern Europe. We know it is a medium-term objective and we are going to put all our efforts into attracting more exhibitors and more buyers from the rest of Spain and other European countries".
Over three days, business persons and designers, such as Custo Dalmau, Sita Murt, Xavier Berneda (Munich) and Andrea Rosso (55 DSL) among others, promoted their autumn-winter 2010-2011 collections in their stands in The Fira area. The list of new products presented by the brands includes technical fabrics, 100% ecological footwear and all kinds of accessories to give the latest look.
The conferences and round tables in The Laundry, The Brandery's ideas laboratory, were also very popular and featured coolhunters and experts such as the director of Privalia, Lucas Carné; the delegate councillor of Basi, Lluís Juste de Nin; and Isabel Mesa, the representative for Spain and Portugal of Worth Global Style Network, the leading fashion trend analysis company. The Professor of Marketing at IESE Business School, pointed out that retail outlets have to look for new products to maintain customer loyalty in times of crisis and that the age range with the most business potential is from 30 to 50.
In the zone dedicated to sport & street brands (The Stadium), exhibitors and visitors were also able to enjoy the live performances of skateboarding, street dance and Parkour and the exhibitions of snowboards and ironboards customised by well-known tattoo artists such as Máximo Lutz and Laura Juan.
The Brandery's leisure zone hosted numerous activities, such as the Welcome Party with around a thousand guests and music and art exhibitions. The show's fourth area, The Brandtown, featured chill-out areas, restaurants and a skating rink.
The next edition of The Brandery will take place from the 27th to the 29th of June 2010.
